7 Tips: How to Manifest Through Depression

Approximately 17.3 million American adults have diagnosed depression according to a 2017 study (https://www.dbsalliance.org/education/depression/statistics/). I am one of those 17.3 million adults and chances are,

if you are reading this article, you are too. I am also a loyal devotee to the principles of The Law of Attraction and am a manifesting machine!
You might be asking yourself, "How can someone manifest when they are depressed?" I had the same question. I can remember when I first learned about The Law of Attraction. I was so excited! This is what I had been searching for! I started meditating and saying affirmations. I made vision boards and read every book about manifestation and spirituality that I could find. I was the queen of Positive Vibes Only!
And then it happened. My usually well-managed depression came creeping back in. I was panicked! I just knew that everything that I was manifesting was going to be completely derailed. If I was sad and had sad thoughts then I would attract more sadness into my life. Everything I was working so hard for was all going to be wiped away and replaced with depression. But do you want to know what actually happened? I was able to continue to manifest in spite of the feelings of depression.
Manifestation is not limited to only happy people and yet we see so much messaging that leads us to believe otherwise. The Law of Attraction and mental illness can be a tricky pair to partner because so many of the things we are told are vital for manifesting, like thinking positive and taking action, become difficult when you are in a lower vibration or mood. But there are things you can do to mitigate the low feelings and continue to manifest successfully which we will talk about in this article.
The myth of positive vibes only is essentially spiritual gaslighting. There are so many things wrong with this way of thinking. We cannot feel a broad spectrum of emotions without also encountering some of the not so fun emotions along the way. How would we ever know what we liked if we didn't have what we don't like to compare it to? It is the same way that we can't know darkness without also knowing the light.
When dealing with a medical condition like depression you may need professional help (licensed therapist, physician, medications, etc). These professionals can help you get the proper diagnosis and treatment. In addition to working with professionals, you may want to consider doing some shadow work. There might be things that you need to deal with so that you are able to begin the healing process of anything emotional that might be contributing to your feelings of depression. In dealing with our emotions and feelings we are able to show up as our authentic selves and this is what brings us back into alignment with the desires that we are trying to attract into our life. I am going to give you 7 easy tips for you to follow when feelings of depression arise that will help you work through those feelings while still showing up as your authentic self. Try out one or more of the following tips the next time you are feeling low vibration:
Acknowledge and explore your feelings Allow yourself the opportunity to feel your emotions no matter how uncomfortable they are. By doing this you can see the emotion more clearly which will help you navigate yourself through it easier.
Work through your limiting beliefs A major contributor to stalled manifestations are limiting beliefs. To learn more about limiting beliefs click here
Find your emotional baseline On a scale of 1-10, 1 being the most depressed you have ever been and 10 being the most happy you have ever been, how happy are you on average? If your baseline is a 3, than any thing above that 3 is a raised vibration! This means that at a 4, you can be a manifesting machine like me!
Set intentions Even if they are just little milestones that are moving you towards your goals that is ok!
Practice Self-Care Sometimes we need a day in bed to binge our favorite comfort show (The Office anyone?). Use this self-care downtime to push yourself up to your baseline or higher!
Focus on appreciating the little things Even if it is just your morning cup of coffee or a great parking spot at work.
Accept yourself in every stage of your journey Because no matter where you are on your journey, you always have the ability to create your own reality, and that is pretty darn amazing.
